I was given a tricky portrait to do recently and I wanted to share how I finally figured it out. I had a photo to work from, these two gorgeous girls with their beautiful mom. The only problem was that mom was on the far left, so I had to re-arrange the ladies, but make it look natural. I started by drawing each figure on a separate sheet of tracing paper, I then arranged them and traced my final composition.

I had to restart 5 times, because inevitably I'd get one lovely lady perfect and then not like an element on another one. This is normal, right? Regardless, I learned a lot with this one.
